While planning my final shoot of the November 2016 ‘Beaver’ moon, I decided to pursue a more complex capture – commercial airliners transiting the face of the moon. With my first basic airliner transit shots having been acquired this month near KLAX, plans are being made to arrange a second airliner-transiting shoot.
Key lessons learned include avoidance of the heat distortion of shooting down a length tarmac, arranging a larger minimum distance to the airliner glide or flight path and attention to focus while shifting to follow flights.
