While Wikipedia describes Hogmanay (HOG-mə-NAY) as ‘the Scots word for the last day of the year, being synonymous with the celebration of the Gregorian New Year in ‘the Scottish manner”, I describe it simply as ‘a darn good time, year after year’.
Organized and hosted each New Year’s Eve by The Scottish Society of Ottawa, this popular family-friendly cultural celebration brings the tastes, sights, sounds and traditions of Scotland to the Ottawa community. While there is no cost to attend, many attendees stop by the donation kiosks to help the Society offset the costs of producing the first-class event and fireworks show, time and time again.
This year’s musical act was none other than the Canadian band, Glass Tiger.
