Despite inclement weather rearing its ugly head through most of Canada Day 2017, I’m happy to report that the precipitation was done well ahead of the 11:00 pm scheduled start time for the great fireworks show, scheduled to run 20 minutes, 17 seconds. The day had started with torrential rain storms and a cloud deck so low that the early afternoon Parliament Hill fly-past of 39 aircraft required cancellation, with a late-afternoon/early-evening storm cell bringing lightning and more heavy rain to the unsuspecting crowds.
Looking to shake things up a bit and knowing that this would be a large-scale spectacle, I researched and selected a new location to capture the show from. Shot from Gatineau, Quebec, I present to you some of my favorite after-dark images from Canada Day 2017.
